Be a Risk Taker!!
I just heard that only 3% of people are natural risk takers, 3%!! That means 97% of people are not natural risk takers! I suppose the term ‘risk taker’ is quite often associated with a person who will throw themselves out of a small aeroplane thousands of feet up in the air, or a man who walks into a roman stadium facing the hungriest of lions with only a tooth pick to defend himself. What does a risk taker look like to you?!
To me, being a risk taker is far more than jumping out of a plane, it’s someone who is willing to come out of their comfort zone, refusing normality, daring to believe that the impossible dream is entirely possible with a God who’s kingdom will never be shaken.
I look at the life of David, David was a young, musical, sheep-herding, cheese boy. A guy who in some sense I can relate to (partly because like him, I too am a musician, well... an opera singer!! if you can call them musicians!!). I relate more to him because he seemed to be a normal person! HOWEVER he wasn’t normal, in fact he refused to be normal. What was normal at that time was to run from Goliath, it was normal to back down from the attacker, it was normal to see the great power of the enemy and to flee like a powerless second class citizen. However David was a man who stood up, stepped out, took a risk and conquered the enemy! WOW this gets me excited, David you are my hero!! What's most exciting is not the story but the principle! The principle that giants and oppressors are meant to to be defeated! That's right you heard me, oppressors are meant to fall!! AND the great thing is God uses normal people to do it!!
I love it!! My friends what is your giant? What oppressors do you see? Because I want to encourage you, with your God you can defeat that giant, you can take down that oppressor!!
My old youth pastor used to say to me... “He who dares... wins” lets be a generation who dares to take on Human Trafficking, who dares to take on HIV, child exploitation, drug abuse, eating disorders, poverty, racism, gun crime, world debt and the list goes on... I pray we as a generation will be known for taking on these giants!! and winning!
I used to say to people at the end of emails... Take care... not anymore..TAKE RISKS my friends TAKE RISKS!! the world needs us right now.
