“Geeta was happy with her life as a nanny in Nepal, but one day everything changed forever. She was drugged and trafficked by a man who befriended her in the street. Geeta woke up to face the terror of life in a brothel in Mumbai, India. She was often kept at the side of the road with a queue of men waiting to have sex with her. When she was finally rescued she had been so badly abused she could no longer walk.”

Thousands of young women and children are being kidnapped like Geeta and sold into a life of prostitution and abuse. Victims are often closely watched and are brutally punished if they try to escape. Many girls are under aged, and children as young as five have been found working in brothels. It is a growing global problem in countries and cities across the world.

Often people wrongly assume that trafficking is only an issue in poorer nations but it is a global problem. From New Delhi to New York and from London to Lagos innocent people are being bought and sold, lives are being destroyed and traffickers are profiting from their trade in human misery.
